Health and Safety Manager West Sussex FTC up to 6 months


LHH is seeking and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our client's organisation on a Fixed Term Contract for up to 6 months, based on site in West Sussex.


This is fantastic opportunity to support the UK Research and Development Facility of an innovative Global Organisation who are a leader in their field.


Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, the Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for leading and enhancing health, safety, and compliance strategies and best practices across the facility. They will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with HSE guidelines and maintaining a robust EHS management system.


Key responsibilities include conducting risk assessments and developing standard operating procedures, carrying out COSHH assessments and setting up exposure monitoring, and coordinating LEV statutory inspections. The role also involves creating training matrices and record-keeping systems, implementing safety signage and procedures, and driving culture change initiatives. The Health & Safety Manager will be expected to update EHS policies, conduct audits and compliance checks, deliver safety training refreshers and inductions, and maintain statutory registers such as those for LEV, noise, and RPE. Regular reporting to senior leadership and relevant regulatory bodies is also required.


The ideal candidate will hold a NEBOSH certification, which is essential, and an IOSH certification, which is desirable. A degree or diploma in Health & Safety desirable along with strong interpersonal skills and a solid working knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and ISO standards, including 45001, 9001, and 14001. Familiarity with SAP is also advantageous.
