Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow


The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking a highly experienced and passionate Investment Director - Place to lead investments aligned with our Place Mission. In this senior role, you'll drive projects across Scotland that contribute to vibrant, sustainable communities, focusing on sectors such as affordable housing, community regeneration, innovation hubs, and clean industrial projects.


As part of the Investment Origination team and working closely with the Director - Market Creation (Place), you will be instrumental in structuring, negotiating, and executing impactful investments that foster economic resilience and social wellbeing. You'll collaborate across departments to ensure each investment meets the Bank's strategic, financial, and regulatory objectives, helping us deliver long-term positive change.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the origination and execution of investments that align with the Bank's Place Mission, covering housing, regeneration, community facilities, and more.
  • Deal team lead of a small team, guiding the full investment process from assessment through to successful execution.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with investment approvals and a robust review process.
  • Develop and maintain relationships within Scotland's financial ecosystem, including advisors, institutional investors, and community partners.
  • Support portfolio management through the transition and ongoing management of investments, ensuring they meet performance objectives.
  • Act as a representative of the Bank, engaging with industry networks and speaking at conferences.

About You:


  • Significant experience in investment management, particularly within sectors related to the built environment and community development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex investment portfolios, with strong skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship building.
  • Experience in a leadership role, with a collaborative approach to mentoring team members and fostering development.
  • A commitment to the Bank's mission, with a strong desire to support Scotland's social and economic growth.
  • Degree qualified in Business, Finance, Legal, or related fields; professional qualifications (CA, CFA, or similar) are highly regarded.
