Accounting Manager/ Controller – Industrial Manufacturing/Distribution | Arlington, TX (In Office)

LHH has partnered with a world-class industrial manufacturing/distribution organization to hire a hands-on Accounting Manager/ Controller at their corporate headquarters in Arlington, Texas. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a lean environment and brings strong operational, analytical, and financial control expertise.

This role requires a detail-oriented leader with advanced excel and strong technical skills including queries to extract data from ERP system and manipulate data, deep balance sheet ownership, expense control discipline, and strong reconciliation and reporting capabilities. The ideal candidate will partner closely with executive leadership to enhance financial accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and drive continuous improvement across the accounting function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, and internal controls

  • Own the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, revenue and cost accruals, variance analysis, and management reporting

  • Analyze financial results, investigate deviations, implement corrective actions, and present summarized findings to senior leadership

  • Maintain and enhance a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

  • Oversee accounting staff and manage all aspects of financial statement preparation and balance sheet integrity

  • Partner with the CFO to manage company financial performance and operational results

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, internal control standards, and GAAP compliance

  • Proactively safeguard company assets and manage risk mitigation processes

  • Actively manage expense structure and vendor relationships to drive cost efficiency

  • Maintain cost accounting structure and ensure proper departmental cost allocations

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial and operational reporting packages

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership to provide financial insights and business analysis

  • Take ownership of departmental performance and continuously develop and improve accounting processes and team capabilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; CPA a plus

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior management responsibilities

  • Manufacturing or industrial distribution experience strongly preferred

  • Advanced system expertise, including ERP platforms, advanced Excel, databases, and SQL

  • Must be highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with SQL queries and database tools (MS Access or similar)

  • Experience working within ERP systems and extracting data to manipulate in Excel

  • Proven ability to lead teams, take ownership of responsibilities, and drive departmental performance improvement

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a proactive, hands-on mindset

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • High integrity and professionalism with a track record of building collaborative cross-functional relationships
