Engineering Drafter/BoM Builder

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for creating precise technical drawings, managing Bills of Materials (BoMs), and ensuring meticulous documentation control. The role also involves assisting with design and material sourcing for new parts. The position operates with minimal supervision and significant autonomy.


Essential Functions:



  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, product management, and R&D teams to understand design requirements and translate them into technical drawings.


  • Analyze user specifications, technical documents, and materials to assess their impact on designs and provide technical recommendations.


  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to produce accurate and detailed drawings.


  • Develop and maintain BoMs for numerous products, ensuring all components and materials are correctly listed.


  • Coordinate with procurement and production teams to update BoMs based on design changes and product requirements.


  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of drawings and BoMs to support manufacturing and assembly processes.


  • Implement and manage change control processes for drawings, BoMs, and related documentation.


  • Track and document revisions, ensuring all changes are properly recorded and communicated.


  • Provide support to less experienced engineering designers.


  • Conduct quality checks on drawings and BoMs to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience as a Drafter-BoM Builder, or


  • High School Diploma and certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Drafter-BoM Builder.


Required Experience & Competencies:



  • Proven experience as a Drafter or similar role, with a strong portfolio of technical drawings and designs.


  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and familiarity with BoM management tools.


  • Experience with Visio preferred.


  • Understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.


  • Experience in change control procedures and documentation management.


  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.


  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.


  • Familiarity with project management software.


  • Proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems for BoM management.


  • Patient, tactful, diplomatic, and approachable.


  • Ability to stay calm in challenging situations.


  • Keen sense of urgency and ability to deliver ahead of deadlines.


  • Meets productivity standards.


  • Self-motivated, adaptable to various work projects, and able to work efficiently independently and as part of a team.

Pay Details: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour Search managed by: Ronald Lyon
