We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Payroll Accountant to join our accounting team. This role is responsible for managing payroll operations across a global workforce and ensuring accurate financial reporting related to payroll activities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of payroll processing and accounting expertise, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.

Position Title: Payroll Accountant
Position Type: Direct Hire
Location: Downtown Chicago
Salary: $85-$95k
Worksite Type: Hybrid Schedule
Key Responsibilities:
Process weekly payroll for approximately 600 employees (200 U.S.-based, remainder international)
Manage timecard collection, review, and processing to ensure timely and accurate payroll
Handle garnishment processing and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Reconcile payroll tax and employee benefit accounts
Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries
Perform monthly bank reconciliations related to payroll accounts
Manage foreign currency payroll transactions
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and ad hoc financial projects as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
Strong understanding of payroll processes and accounting principles
Previous use of ADP Workforce Now (Payroll) and NetSuite (ERP) is a huge plus
Experience with international payroll is highly preferred
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Self-starter with a go-getter attitude and the ability to work independently
