LHH has partnered with a well-established Construction company in Fort Worth, TX to hire a Controller. The Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's accounting practices and financial management. This includes establishing accounting/financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems to maximize return on financial assets. The Controller ensures the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Oversee all accounting practices and financial management to maximize return on financial assets. Ensure adherence to corporate financial and accounting policies.
Leadership: Develop and enhance the operations of the accounting department. Design an organizational structure to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Recommend and monitor benchmarks and metrics to measure company performance.
Financial Oversight: Manage financial operations including AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll, and cash flow management. Oversee the annual audit by a third-party CPA firm.
Policy and Procedure Development: Develop and maintain internal accounting controls and financial reporting systems. Document accounting policies and procedures.
Financial Reporting: Produce periodic financial reports. Ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. Conduct monthly job cost reviews, closeout processes, and financial reviews.
Payroll Management: Manage payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
Bank Reconciliation: Review and oversee bank reconciliation processes to maintain financial accuracy.
Legal Dispute Management: Manage legal disputes to protect the company's interests and ensure legal compliance.
IT Planning and Strategy: Develop and implement IT planning and strategies. Supervise third-party IT vendors and manage technology inventory.
Cash Management: Manage the company's cash position and banking relationships.
Budgeting: Lead the annual budgeting process and contribute to long-range business plan development activities. Review capital expenditure requests. Prepare and present financial analysis for senior management or board approval.
External Relations: Work with public accounting firms to ensure timely tax filings and accurate completion of annual audits. Present information to the executive leadership team and Board.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of experience in senior financial management roles
Recent construction industry experience is required.
