Service Engineer Apprentice

LHH is teaming up with an established machine industry firm in search of a direct hire Service Apprentice!


The Service Engineer Apprentice will be based in Fremont, CA, but will be traveling about 75% of the time. They will undergo comprehensive training and development to acquire skills in repairing, installing, and relocating the company’s machines.


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Successfully complete all classroom, factory training, and online courses, achieving scores of 80% or higher.


  • Shadow experienced Service Engineers during service calls, involving travel to customer sites.


  • Learn through observation while actively assisting Service Engineers during on-site service calls.


  • Progress through the apprentice program based on competency, with a two-year enrollment period before certification and promotion to Service Engineer.


  • Perform other duties as reasonably assigned.



Minimum Requirements:



  • High School diploma or GED


  • Demonstrated mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, or electronic aptitude.


  • Experience in CNC manufacturing, maintenance, a related field, journeyman certification, and/or experience in machine/manufacturing maintenance, with preference given to those with military maintenance training and experience.


  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.


  • Strong interpersonal and social skills to handle assignments in stressful situations.


  • Professional communication skills to establish positive relationships with customers.


  • Verbal proficiency to effectively communicate with internal technical staff and customers.


  • Effective time management skills for planning work and travel schedules to minimize downtime.


  • Adaptability to sudden changes in work schedule and travel arrangements.


  • Proven written skills and discipline to complete technical documents and reports in a timely manner.


  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally to customer locations and trade shows.


  • Capability to follow complex written and verbal instructions accurately.



Job Type: Direct Hire


Salary: $60,000/year


Schedule: Monday – Friday, Core Business Hours


Work Environment:


The work environment involves exposure to manufacturing and machining settings, where potential hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and various automated and manual machinery may be present. Additionally, employees may experience a typical office environment.


Physical Demands:


Frequent activities include travel, vehicle operation, sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, stooping, and reaching. This may also involve pushing, pulling, and lifting objects, along with repetitive movements of the foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso. Periodically, employees may operate power equipment, sit at a desk, and use computers and phones. Occasionally, lifting or moving objects weighing up to 50lbs may be required.
