LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking to hire an Assistant Controller role at a well-respected organization in Greensboro, NC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting and internal controls and enjoy leading and mentoring a small staff and committed to accuracy and process improvement. This hands-on role involves month-end and year-end close, budget analysis, and audit support. The culture is flexible and open to one day WFH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Controller in preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting reports for leadership

  • Oversee daily accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

  • Ensure accurate reconciliations, journal entries, and maintenance of financial records.

  • Support budget preparation and ongoing budget-to-actual analysis.

  • Monitor and enhance internal controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Provide guidance and training to accounting team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.

  • Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and compliance documentation.

  • Contribute to financial analysis, forecasting, and variance explanations for strategic decision-making.

  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial questions and improve processes.

  • Support special projects, process improvements, and ad-hoc financial analysis as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • CPA or MBA preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience

  • Supervisory experience

  • Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and core accounting functions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
