LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking to hire an Assistant Controller role at a well-respected organization in Greensboro, NC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting and internal controls and enjoy leading and mentoring a small staff and committed to accuracy and process improvement. This hands-on role involves month-end and year-end close, budget analysis, and audit support. The culture is flexible and open to one day WFH.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Controller in preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting reports for leadership
Oversee daily accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Ensure accurate reconciliations, journal entries, and maintenance of financial records.
Support budget preparation and ongoing budget-to-actual analysis.
Monitor and enhance internal controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Provide guidance and training to accounting team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and compliance documentation.
Contribute to financial analysis, forecasting, and variance explanations for strategic decision-making.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial questions and improve processes.
Support special projects, process improvements, and ad-hoc financial analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA or MBA preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience
Supervisory experience
Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and core accounting functions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
