HR Administrator - Hauppauge, NY
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an HR Administrator to support a well-established client in the Hauppauge, NY area. This role is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys multifaceted administrative work, and brings strong technical skills — especially advanced Excel capabilities — to daily HR operations.
As an essential member of the HR team, the HR Administrator will provide end-to-end administrative support across HR functions, including onboarding, recruiting coordination, HRIS updates, employee records, compliance, and employee inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
Support pre-boarding processes: send pre-employment screenings, communicate with candidates, and update HRIS with candidate information and forms
Participate in onboarding by preparing DocuSign packages, coordinating orientation (virtual and in-person), and ensuring completion of all new-hire requirements such as ID badges
Respond to employee HR inquiries regarding ID badges, name changes, policy questions, and unemployment claims
Conduct reference checks and initial screening interviews as needed
Maintain and update employee files, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company standards
Enter and scan employee data into HRIS and related HR systems, including new hires, transfers, promotions, and pay changes
Compile HR metrics, reports, and spreadsheets — requiring strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, data validation, etc.)
Respond to unemployment requests and employment verifications
Monitor department supply inventory and process purchase requests as needed
Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines; maintain system accuracy and documentation updates
Qualifications
High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
Advanced Excel skills are required (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, HLOOKUPS, formulas, data analysis)
Minimum 2 years of HR administrative experience in a fast-paced office environment
Experience with HRIS systems and/or ATS platforms preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally across all levels of an organization
High attention to detail and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to quickly learn new HR systems and tools
Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and reporting requirements preferred
