HR Administrator - Hauppauge, NY

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an HR Administrator to support a well-established client in the Hauppauge, NY area. This role is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys multifaceted administrative work, and brings strong technical skills — especially advanced Excel capabilities — to daily HR operations.

As an essential member of the HR team, the HR Administrator will provide end-to-end administrative support across HR functions, including onboarding, recruiting coordination, HRIS updates, employee records, compliance, and employee inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pre-boarding processes: send pre-employment screenings, communicate with candidates, and update HRIS with candidate information and forms

  • Participate in onboarding by preparing DocuSign packages, coordinating orientation (virtual and in-person), and ensuring completion of all new-hire requirements such as ID badges

  • Respond to employee HR inquiries regarding ID badges, name changes, policy questions, and unemployment claims

  • Conduct reference checks and initial screening interviews as needed

  • Maintain and update employee files, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company standards

  • Enter and scan employee data into HRIS and related HR systems, including new hires, transfers, promotions, and pay changes

  • Compile HR metrics, reports, and spreadsheets — requiring strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, data validation, etc.)

  • Respond to unemployment requests and employment verifications

  • Monitor department supply inventory and process purchase requests as needed

  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines; maintain system accuracy and documentation updates

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Advanced Excel skills are required (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, HLOOKUPS, formulas, data analysis)

  • Minimum 2 years of HR administrative experience in a fast-paced office environment

  • Experience with HRIS systems and/or ATS platforms preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally across all levels of an organization

  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain strict confidentiality

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to quickly learn new HR systems and tools

  • Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and reporting requirements preferred

Why This Opportunity?

  • Join a respected, stable organization with a supportive HR team

  • Excellent chance to grow your HR generalist foundation

  • Hands-on experience with onboarding, HRIS, compliance, and employee relations

  • Competitive hourly compensation: $25–$30/hour

Employment Type: Contract, possible Contract-to-Hire
