LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered up with an excellent, growing organization in Nassau County. We are seeking an Accounts Receivable Lead with Sales Tax experience.

This is a Direct Hire Career Opportunity!

Full Time, In Office Daily. 8am-4:30pm/ 8:30am-5pm type of shift.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an Accounts Receivable Lead – Sales Tax Expert to own multi‑state sales tax compliance and lead core accounts receivable operations. You will maintain and verify exemption/resale certificates, guide sales on jurisdictional rules, and partner across Finance and IT to enhance automation (including Avalara and ERP integration). This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, organized professional with strong leadership, communication, and accounting skills who thrives in a fast‑paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary owner for sales tax compliance initiatives across jurisdictions; partner directly with the CFO

  • Collaborate with the Controller and external accounting firms on state filings/returns

  • Identify physical/economic nexus in new states; lead VDAs (Voluntary Disclosure Agreements) with each state

  • Advise internal sales teams on jurisdictional tax rates and exemption considerations

  • Oversee exemption documentation across states (current focus on the Northeast) and ensure accurate reflection in customer sales reports

A/R Operations & Cross‑Functional Support

  • Act as backup for A/R functions: collections, cash posting, credit‑card processing, aged receivables reporting/analysis

  • Review and monitor customer accounts to ensure accurate, timely invoicing and collections

  • Coordinate customer outreach to resolve outstanding balances; reconcile accounts and correct billing discrepancies

  • Prepare regular A/R performance reports and aging analyses; monitor aging and follow up on past‑due balances

  • Liaise between Sales and Shipping to align upcoming shipments with sales‑order financial status

  • Partner with Controller and Sales to establish/revise payment terms and review customer creditworthiness

  • Participate in OTC (order‑to‑cash) process and systems projects

  • Enter customer payments in the ERP, post cash, prepare bank deposits, and process credit‑card payments


Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 3+ years related experience in A/R and sales tax compliance.

  • Experience with Avalara or similar tax automation software.

  • ERP proficiency; strong MS Office skills

  • Excellent communication, customer service, organization, and time‑management skills.

  • Proven analytical and problem‑solving ability; high professionalism and confidentiality

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and function well under pressure; team‑oriented mindset

Preferred

  • CRM experience (Salesforce a plus)

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles

  • Experience with database management and electronic filing systems (Avalara a plus)

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and continuous‑improvement mindset

Salary- $75-85K (depending on experience)
