LHH is looking for a full-time Tax Accountant to join our client-growing company in Issaquah, WA. This position will be a 5-week contract that is fully onsite at the client location.
Job Summary
The Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and filing tax returns for individuals, businesses, and organizations. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while identifying opportunities for tax savings and planning strategies. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation and Filing:
Prepare accurate and timely federal, state, and local tax returns.
Review financial statements and documents for tax reporting purposes.
Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Tax Planning and Analysis:
Provide strategic tax planning advice to minimize tax liabilities.
Analyze tax data to identify trends, discrepancies, or areas of concern.
Research and implement tax-saving opportunities for clients or the organization.
Compliance and Audits:
Stay current on changes in tax legislation and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
Assist with tax audits, providing documentation and addressing queries from tax authorities.
Maintain organized and secure records of all tax-related information.
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with clients, internal departments, and external auditors to ensure accurate tax reporting.
Provide guidance on tax implications of financial decisions and business transactions.
Support the finance team with general accounting tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in tax accounting or a related role.
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax codes and regulations.
Proficiency in tax software (e.g., ProConnect, Lacerte, or similar) and accounting systems.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with general ledger software.
Attributes:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment
Office setting with the potential for remote or hybrid work.
Extended hours may be required during peak tax seasons.
Compensation: $30-$35/hour DOE
