• Analyze risk factors for new enrollment, annual renewals, and amendments of group insurance contracts or self-funded plans.
• Review and verify insurance applications and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Assess clients' backgrounds, financial status, and other relevant information to determine the level of risk and appropriate coverage.
• Provide regular reports to senior leadership on underwriting performance and trends.
• Assist associate underwriters with training and peer review.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as claims and sales, to ensure a comprehensive approach to risk management.
• Make recommendations on whether to approve or deny applications based on detailed analysis.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and competitive positioning.

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical underwriting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
