IBM i (AS/400) RPG Web Application Developer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced IBM i (AS/400) RPG Developer to support and enhance a large‑scale, in‑house developed RPG application. This role requires strong expertise across RPG development, IBM i platform technologies, and modern web development, supporting APIs, integrations, and data-driven enterprise applications.

The ideal candidate is well‑rounded on the IBM i platform and comfortable working across both backend RPG development and front‑end web technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support, maintain, and enhance a large‑scale in‑house RPG application on the IBM i platform.

  • Design, develop, and support web-based interfaces connected to IBM i backend systems.

  • Develop and support APIs and data integrations using modern standards.

  • Work with structured and semi-structured data formats including JSON and XML.

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL and RPG-based database logic, including stored procedures.

  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate integrations and application behavior using tools such as Postman.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure system stability, performance, and scalability.


Required Qualifications

IBM i / RPG Development

  • Experience supporting a large-scale in-house developed RPG application.

  • Strong experience on the IBM i (AS/400) platform, including:

    • RPG

    • RPGLE

    • SQLRPGLE

    • SRVPGM / SRVMOD

    • Binding

  • Proficiency developing and maintaining:

    • Embedded SQL

    • Non-embedded stored procedures

  • Strong, well‑rounded experience using the IBM i platform.


Web & Integration Development

  • 5+ years of web development experience, including:

    • HTML

    • CSS

    • JavaScript

    • jQuery

    • Bootstrap

  • Experience in API development.

  • Experience working with JSON and XML.

  • Experience testing APIs using Postman.

  • Strong working knowledge of SQL.


Very Nice To Have Qualifications

  • Experience with WebSmart development tools.


Work Environment

  • Enterprise IBM i environment

  • Large, long‑lived in‑house application

  • Combination of legacy platform expertise and modern web technologies



Pay Details: $90,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year
