A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Conflicts Analyst to support its new business intake and conflicts review function. This role is critical to maintaining the firm’s ethical standards and risk management practices by identifying and evaluating potential conflicts of interest related to new matters, lateral hires, and other firm initiatives.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working collaboratively with attorneys, legal assistants, and other members of the Conflicts and Intake team in a fast‑paced professional services environment.
Position Summary
The Senior Conflicts Analyst is responsible for reviewing and analyzing new business intake requests for potential conflicts of interest in accordance with firm policies and applicable ethical rules. This position conducts research using multiple internal and external sources and prepares clear, accurate conflicts analyses and summaries for attorneys and firm leadership. The role also supports special projects such as lateral onboarding and ethical wall implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze conflict search results generated through the firm’s conflicts and financial systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Review new matter intake submissions and identify potential conflict issues requiring further analysis
Work directly with attorneys and legal staff to obtain and clarify information necessary to conduct thorough conflicts reviews
Collaborate with Conflicts/Intake team members to evaluate attorney responses, recommend potential resolutions, and summarize next steps
Follow up with attorneys, assistants, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of conflicts matters
Conduct research on prospective clients, related parties, and other entities using electronic databases and public sources
Maintain data integrity to support accurate conflicts analysis and reporting
Assist with conflicts‑related projects, including lateral attorney onboarding and the establishment and maintenance of ethical walls
Support ongoing process improvements and other department initiatives as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
2–10 years of experience in conflicts, new business intake, or law firm operations preferred
Prior experience as a paralegal or legal assistant may be considered if directly relevant to conflicts analysis
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and research skills with high attention to detail
Ability to interpret and apply conflicts policies and ethical guidelines
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines simultaneously
Collaborative approach and strong interpersonal skills
Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information
Technology
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook required
Experience with Elite 3E, Smartsheet, or similar systems is a plus
Comfort working with multiple databases and research tools
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: In compliance with California pay transparency laws, the pay range for this position will be provided to candidates during the recruitment process and prior to any offer of employment. Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and other job‑related factors permitted by law.
