Job Description:
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a Portland law firm to hire a Litigation Floating Legal Assistant. This role requires a highly adaptable professional who can step into different desks seamlessly, maintain consistency in workflow, and support a busy litigation practice with minimal disruption. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, bring strong knowledge of court rules and procedures, and demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and proofreading skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform e-filing in multiple jurisdictions with strict adherence to court rules and procedures
- Maintain and manage litigation calendars, deadlines, and docketing protocols
- Proofread, edit, and finalize litigation documents and correspondence for accuracy and compliance
- Assist attorneys and staff with case management, filings, and trial preparation
- Collaborate with legal assistants and administrative staff to ensure seamless workflow across teams
- Adapt quickly to different attorney preferences, workloads, and practice needs
- Provide full desk coverage for legal assistants during vacations and absences, including docketing support as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a business litigation legal assistant required
- Strong knowledge of court rules, legal calendaring, and e-filing procedures, ideally in Oregon and Washington civil courts and Oregon federal courts
- Experience supporting or working alongside docketing functions is highly preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication, and proofreading skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and handle frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented, flexible, and able to adapt quickly to changing assignments
