- Provide engineering and technical direction on assigned projects in accordance with the project scope, to the Project Manager and all supporting internal departments, customers, suppliers, and subcontracted design agents.
- Perform or review regulatory and class level calculations and create detailed reports.
- Perform basic calculations required for system and component design/outfitting.
- Create or review regulatory and class level drawings.
- Design or review vessel mechanical support systems. Specify mechanical and outfit components.
- Perform and review 3D modeling creation.
- Create lofted and extruded plate parts for CNC cutting and forming.
- Create detailed construction drawings and bills of materials.
- Work with project team to ensure adherence to vessel build plan.
- Participate in or lead project engineering and general design reviews.
- Provide liaison between Engineering, Project Management, and production operations to resolve any issues, improvements and changes necessary for deliverables.
- Develop, manage, and maintain Ship Constructor and SolidWorks models
- Develop engineering standards and procedure documents.
- Develop standard blocks and engineering details.
- Very strong computer skills and experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, Ship Constructor and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) preferred.
- Good working knowledge of design spiral, vessel arrangements, structural, electrical, mechanical and outfit details.
- Ability to organize and manage workloads of large or multiple programs.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) concepts and systems preferred.
- Knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) concepts and systems preferred.
- Must be able to maintain a variety of professional relationships and a high standard of professionalism.
- BA in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience required.
- Bachelors in marine, electrical or mechanical engineering preferred.
- Five (5) years of marine experience required, experience in vessel design and construction preferred.
- Experience and familiarity with CFR, IACS Classing Society rules, ABYC, IEEE, and military contracts is preferred.
