Import/Export Trade Compliance Analyst (1–3 Years)
Pay Range: $40 - $45/hr
Location: North Hills, Raleigh, NC 27609
Department: Global Trade Compliance / Supply Chain

Employment Type: Contract- 6-12 months with possibility to convert

In this role you can expect to

  • Audit U.S. import entries and export filings to ensure accuracy and compliance (e.g., entry summaries, broker instructions, AES filings), and reconcile ACE report data against purchase orders/part records and finance duty reports.

  • Support HTS/Schedule B classification by researching tariff codes, country of origin, and special program indicators; escalate complex rulings to senior compliance staff.

  • Prepare and maintain compliance documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin) and recordkeeping per applicable regulations (e.g., 19 CFR, 15 CFR), following internal SOPs.

  • Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders to provide complete, accurate filing instructions (IOR, Incoterms, valuation/duty, partner government agency flags) and resolve entry discrepancies.

  • Monitor trade measures (ADD/CVD, Section 232/301) affecting inbound and outbound flows; surface impacts to pricing and landed cost for Finance.

  • Support Free Trade Agreement (FTA) eligibility checks and duty savings opportunities by collecting supplier documentation and validating rules of origin.

  • Contribute to Global Trade Management (GTM) tooling initiatives (e.g., Oracle GTM): cleanse classification/master data, test workflows, and help users adopt new processes.

  • Track and report KPIs (entry accuracy, broker SLA, clearance cycle times, duty spend variances) and recommend corrective actions.

  • Stay current on regulations and sanctions; summarize relevant changes and assist with communications/training for operations and sales teams.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience: 1–3 years in import/export operations, customs brokerage support, or global trade compliance (manufacturing, distribution, or retail environment preferred).

  • Technical skills:

    • Working knowledge of HTS/Schedule B, Incoterms 2020, valuation/origin basics, and broker workflows.

    • Familiarity with ACE (and similar portals) for reporting and data reconciliation.

    • Excel proficiency (lookups, pivot tables) for data validation and reporting; exposure to Oracle GTM or similar systems is a plus.

  • Soft skills: Analytical mindset, strong attention to detail, effective cross functional communication, and the ability to work in fast paced, high volume environments.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

  • Coursework or certifications in trade compliance (e.g., CUSECO, CES), duty drawback exposure, or experience supporting FTA/CTPAT/FTZ programs.

  • Prior experience liaising with customs brokers or contributing to classification rulings.

How you’ll grow

You’ll build depth in tariff classification, valuation/origin analysis, and broker/vendor management while gaining hands on experience with GTM platforms and analytics. High performers can progress toward Senior Analyst or Specialist roles in classification, trade programs, or compliance operations.
