Business Systems / Applications Analyst II
San Diego, CA (Hybrid – 3 Days On-Site)
Employment Type: Contract-to-hire
Compensation: $38-43/hr
About the Role
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a large, well-established organization in the San Diego area to identify a Business Systems / Applications Analyst. This role supports both internal and external stakeholders by developing clear, accurate, and actionable requirements rooted in a strong understanding of business processes, applications, and data.
The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for key systems, contribute to Agile delivery teams, and help ensure high-quality solutions through thorough testing, issue management, and effective stakeholder communication. This position requires the ability to independently learn new tools and processes, translate complex concepts into plain language, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Learn and work proficiently within management and delivery tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, and data analytics platforms including Power BI, SQL, and Excel-based models.
Develop, document, and maintain detailed business and system requirements based on a strong understanding of business processes, data, and applications.
Build working knowledge of assigned business domains, IT processes, systems, and datasets.
Act as an expert user of applications and systems to effectively support internal and external clients.
Execute and document testing activities to ensure delivered solutions meet defined requirements.
Manage client requests and issues, including timely entry, tracking, escalation, and resolution.
Support stakeholders by responding to questions related to requirements, testing, client needs, identified issues, and proposed solutions.
Provide clear, accurate, and timely status updates to management and stakeholders regarding new development, enhancements, and issue resolution.
Collaborate closely within Scrum and Agile teams to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
Equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Experience
Minimum of 4+ years of relevant professional experience or demonstrated ability to perform similar functions
2+ years of SQL scripting experience
Experience in the energy industry is preferred but not required
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Highly self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of learning independently
Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and strong problem-solving skills
Ability to simplify and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
Proven ability to manage time effectively across multiple concurrent assignments
Comfortable performing at a high level in an open, dynamic, team-oriented environment
Ability to break down complex business processes to:
Identify and document requirements
Create test scenarios
Develop training or reference documentation
Clearly articulate business needs to development teams
Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
Proactive in learning complex business processes without direct instruction
Eager and adaptable when learning and applying new IT applications independently
