Floater Legal Assistant
Location: San Diego, CA
Salary: $95K to $115K, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits (paid vacation/sick leave, firm holidays, medical/dental/vision, 401(k), etc.)

LHH is working with a reputable law firm in seeking an experienced Floater Legal Assistant to support attorneys across their Business Litigation practice for their San Diego office. The ideal candidate has at least five years of California civil litigation experience, with strong preference for backgrounds in business litigation or complex civil litigation defense. This role requires a polished, adaptable professional who is comfortable working with multiple attorneys, handling shifting priorities, and providing seamless coverage across various litigation teams.
Responsibilities
Provide high-level administrative and litigation support to multiple attorneys across the Business Litigation practice.
Manage complex state and federal court e‑filing, including formatting, preparing, and submitting filings with exceptional accuracy.
Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including deadlines, hearings, depositions, and court schedules.
Prepare, edit, proofread, format, and redline a wide range of litigation documents.
Coordinate client communications and maintain professional, timely contact as needed.
Handle document organization and case management tasks using iManage or similar DMS.
Assist with litigation workflows including discovery support, trial preparation, and case lifecycle management.
Schedule meetings, depositions, and other litigation events.
Provide flexible support across multiple cases and practice groups, stepping in wherever coverage is needed.
Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and other staff to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of legal assistant experience in California civil litigation.
Experience in Business Litigation or Complex Civil Litigation Defense strongly preferred.
Strong e‑filing experience in both state and federal courts.
Strong calendaring skills with deep knowledge of court rules and deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and document management systems such as iManage.
Familiarity with litigation tools such as CompuLaw, Adobe Pro, Best Authority, Comparite, or similar programs is a plus.
Exceptional attention to detail with strong organization and time‑management abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently while being highly flexible and responsive to shifting priorities.
