Medical Billing Specialist (Remote, 6–8 Week Contract – Potential Extension)

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist with hands-on experience using NextGen EMR to support a short-term remote assignment. This 6–8 week contract offers the potential for extension based on performance and business needs.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full-cycle billing process, including charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, and follow-up on outstanding claims. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of insurance guidelines, coding practices, and denial management, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Job Tasks:

• Process full-cycle medical billing, including charge entry, claim submission, and payment posting

• Utilize NextGen EMR to review, edit, and submit claims accurately

• Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims to ensure timely reimbursement

• Communicate with insurance companies to verify claim status and resolve issues

• Identify and correct billing errors, discrepancies, and coding issues

• Ensure compliance with payer guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and company policies

• Maintain accurate documentation of billing activities and account updates

• Work assigned accounts receivable queues and meet productivity goals

• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing inquiries and improve processes

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle processes

• Hands-on experience with NextGen EMR (required)

• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding

• Experience with denial management and insurance follow-up

• Understanding of commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

• High school diploma or equivalent required (certification in medical billing/coding is a plus)

Position Details:

• Remote position

• Compensation: $23.00-$34.00 per hour DOE

• Located in San Diego

• Full-time, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm PST
