IT Commodity Manager – LHH Recruitment Solutions Candidate Profile

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a leading global organization to identify an experienced IT Commodity Manager. This role is ideal for strategic sourcing professionals who excel in developing procurement strategies, driving supplier performance, and aligning technology purchasing with enterprise business goals. The selected candidate will serve as a trusted sourcing advisor, working cross‑functionally with IT, Legal, and executive stakeholders to optimize value across the company’s global technology spend.


Position Overview

The IT Commodity Manager will own sourcing strategy for the IT category, acting as both a subject matter expert and an ambassador between Procurement and the business. This individual will build deep partnerships across the organization to ensure alignment with corporate goals, lead complex commercial negotiations, and deliver measurable value through strategic sourcing initiatives.

The role includes negotiating IT contracts spanning software licensing, telecom solutions, data center services, and hardware infrastructure. It requires the ability to analyze cost and contract structures, ensure compliance, improve pricing, and recommend cost‑saving opportunities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong independent judgment within established procurement practices and a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing

  • Develop, manage, and execute sourcing strategies for the IT category.

  • Lead RFP processes, facilitate cross‑functional selection teams, and establish scoring criteria aligned with company policies.

  • Collaborate with IT and Legal stakeholders to clarify business requirements and optimize supplier value.

  • Conduct spend, contract, and proposal analyses for software, hardware, servers, telecom, and data center services; deliver strategic recommendations to Procurement and IT leadership.

  • Lead negotiations for Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and Change Orders (COs) balancing business, legal, and financial interests.

  • Perform total cost analyses, benchmark pricing, and support ROI assessments to enhance buying leverage.

  • Research market intelligence, cost drivers, and emerging technology sourcing trends.

Category Management

  • Design and implement category strategies that maximize value and ensure high‑quality technology procurement.

  • Build and strengthen relationships across the business as the Procurement SME for technology spend.

  • Monitor internal/external trends and translate insights into actionable pipeline projects that drive ongoing cost savings.

Supplier Management

  • Oversee supplier relationships with emphasis on contract compliance, cost management, and performance.

  • Lead quarterly business reviews to assess partner performance and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Manage and mediate supplier issues, resolving contract‑related disputes when necessary.

  • Drive supplier rationalization strategies within the category.

Contract Management

  • Evaluate and enhance contracting processes to streamline lifecycle management and improve efficiency.

  • Ensure that negotiated pricing, terms, and deliverables are accurately captured in final agreements.

  • Serve as the liaison between Legal and internal business teams to support seamless contract execution.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 5+ years of indirect strategic sourcing experience in a multinational organization, with emphasis on software, hardware, and telecom procurement.

  • Consulting experience preferred but not required.

  • Strong contract negotiation, vendor management, and influencing skills.

  • Experience with ERP sourcing/contracting tools such as SAP and/or Oracle.

Compensation: $50-60/hr
