Service Desk Associate – Security Specialist (Onsite)
Location: Santa Fe, NM
Pay: $55k-$60k /year
LHH is partnering with a valued client that is seeking to hire a Service Desk Security Specialist. This is a hybrid support + security role where you’ll strengthen endpoint security, improve user protections, and support day‑to‑day IT operations. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work and wants to grow into cybersecurity or infrastructure engineering.
What You’ll Do – Security‑Focused Work (~60%)
Oversee workstation and application updates using Intune and Defender‑based tools
Track and maintain endpoint protection controls, ensuring devices remain compliant and secure
Support safe email and browsing activity through Microsoft 365 security features
Maintain reliable visibility of devices and applications across the environment
Assist with investigative steps during endpoint‑related security events, partnering with security teams as needed
Apply secure configuration standards for systems and user applications
Support awareness initiatives such as simulated phishing exercises and user education activities
Use scripts and automation to streamline routine security tasks and increase consistency
What You’ll Do – Service Desk Operations (~40%)
Provide end‑user assistance with an emphasis on secure handling and best practices
Offer operational support during busy periods or team coverage gaps
Recommend enhancements that simplify workflows and strengthen service operations
Build and update documentation, guides, and internal knowledge articles
Work closely with team members to deliver a consistent, professional support experience
Collaboration & Development
Contribute to endpoint, security, and end‑user computing projects
Coordinate regularly with Infrastructure, Security, and Identity teams to maintain alignment
Engage with vendors or external partners for troubleshooting and escalations
Participate in shift coverage or on‑call rotations when scheduled
Gain exposure to enterprise‑grade tools and practices that support growth into senior IT or security roles
What You Bring
3–5+ years in IT support roles with responsibilities touching security or endpoint management
Strong experience supporting Windows and macOS systems
Hands‑on familiarity with Intune, Defender for Endpoint, and Microsoft 365 security features
Understanding of endpoint protection concepts including patching, compliance, and configuration management
Experience with ITSM systems such as Freshservice or similar platforms
Strong documentation habits and the ability to stay organized in a fast‑moving environment
A clear interest in automation, security, and expanding your technical depth
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with frameworks like CIS or NIST
Scripting experience, especially PowerShell
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+
