Surgical Coordinator – Orthopedic / Spine Practice

Shrewsbury, NJ | Full-Time | Onsite | Contract with Strong Hire Potential

I’m partnering with a highly respected boutique orthopedic and spine practice in Shrewsbury, New Jersey to identify an experienced Surgical Coordinator who thrives in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. This is a 100% onsite, full-time contract opportunity with significant potential to convert to a long-term hire as the practice continues to grow.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being at the center of surgical operations—balancing patient communication, provider coordination, and insurance workflows—while working in a polished, close-knit office with an outstanding reputation for patient care.

Position Overview

As the Surgical Coordinator, you’ll manage the surgical process from initial planning through post-procedure follow-up. You’ll serve as a key point of contact for patients, providers, insurance carriers, and external stakeholders—ensuring that every detail is handled accurately, efficiently, and with compassion.

You’ll also support Workers’ Compensation and motor vehicle-related cases, requiring strong organization, follow-through, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule outpatient surgical procedures

  • Prepare patients for surgery by guiding them through expectations, documentation, and next steps

  • Manage insurance authorizations and surgical approvals

  • Collaborate closely with physicians, clinical staff, and external facilities

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records within the electronic health record system

  • Support post-operative follow-ups and continuity of care

  • Act as a liaison for Workers’ Compensation and accident-related cases, communicating with attorneys, case managers, and insurers

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations

  • Partner with the senior surgical coordinator to manage a high-volume workflow

Ideal Background

  • 3–5+ years of experience in surgical coordination or a similar healthcare role

  • Orthopedic and/or spine experience strongly preferred (but not required)

  • Workers’ Compensation or PIP exposure is a plus

  • Comfortable handling a heavy workload in a growing practice

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Confident working with insurance carriers and authorization processes

  • Experience with EHR systems (eClinicalWorks preferred)

  • Spanish fluency is a plus, not a requirement

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • 100% onsite

  • Business casual office attire

  • Supportive, professional, and patient-focused culture

Compensation

  • Pay Rate: $22–$32/hour (based on experience)

  • This position is being hired as a contract, with strong potential for conversion as the practice expands

Future Perks Upon Permanent Hire

Should this role convert to a permanent position, the practice offers:

  • Comprehensive benefits starting the first of the month

  • Generous PTO and sick time

  • 401(k) with employer match

  • Paid major holidays

  • Annual performance bonuses
