Director of Engineering

$150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per Year


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Manage and oversee all strategies and standards for implementation of functionality and services for ensuring quality deliverables from both the in-house technical teams and external providers.


  • Responsible for ensuring development processes adhering to applicable firm standards and metrics; defining processes and solutions for the site


  • Directly manage several teams of varied engineering disciplines working on various products and will be responsible for the proper functioning and output of the engineering process.


  • Provide leadership and management for Solution-wide product development and sustaining programs and activities and to enhance current products and develop new products


  • Evaluate and develop improved techniques for the control of design activities


  • Plan and manage the deployment of resources for multiple projects


  • Establish and manage operating plan budgets for IR&D, department budget, sustaining funded engineering, and marketing support


  • Encourage and provide opportunity for continued relevant technical training and provide mentoring to new engineers


  • Review and set up optimized work flow and establish design guidelines and design processes


  • Develop environment that utilizes site skill sets and allows collaboration on development projects


  • Work with business development team to drive technology roadmap for future skills/projects


  • Provide interface and direct/indirect support to outside suppliers, 3rd party development activities, technical contact for customer support and customer product integration


  • Support business proposals and engineering estimates for development and recurring costs on new programs


  • Develop, enhance and maintain a core team as well as an external network of consultants, contractors and suppliers to support product development


  • Develop a culture that is focused on results and that balances innovation and accountability


REQUIREMENTS:



  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in product design and manufacturing and previous experience managing multiple teams.


  • BSEE or related technical Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in the RF field; Master’s degree preferred


  • Expertise with industry supply standards and practices; including understanding of Military, Space and Commercial Aerospace standards and related processes.


  • Relevant experience in budgeting, planning and assigning resources.


  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic business-unit plan objectives, CI and PM principles and building a team


  • Must be a problem solver analyzing resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
